Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
This verse tells us that God is able. God is able to do more than we ask or think. We should be asking for more and thinking more because God is able. God’s ability is according to his power. And Paul makes it clear that God’s power is at work within us. Certainly, this means that God has the power to save us. We should never take that for granted. God’s power is working within us on a day to day basis. Empowering us to live for him, to be comforted by him, equipping us to expand his kingdom. How do we plug into God’s power in our life so our lives bring glory to him?
I believe there are three daily practices to plug into God’s power in our lives:
1) Acknowledge that God is with you. The Bible makes it clear that God will never leave us (Hebrews 13:5, Deuteronomy 31:6). Jesus said, “I will never leave you as orphans; I will come to you. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you” (John 14:18,20). No matter what you are facing today, acknowledge God’s presence with you. You are never alone.
2) Acknowledge that God is for you. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). God is on your side. God is fighting for you. Nothing or no one can defeat you. God used Gideon and his small group of men to defeat a vast army.
3) Acknowledge that God is working in you. God’s power is at work within me, according to the verse above. Philippians 2:13 says, “For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
This is how to plug into God’s power in your life. Every day in prayer say, “God I know that you are with me today. I know that you are for me today. I know that you will work in me today.” What a great way to start your day. As God’s power works in you, God will do in your life more than you ask or think. To Him be the glory and honor. AMEN.
