1 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed.” Do you realize what that means? It means that I’m going to heaven because the blood of Jesus has covered and cleansed me of all sin.  I’m not going to heaven because I preach the gospel. I’m not going to heaven because I attend church. I’m not going to heaven because I love God. I’m going to heaven because Jesus is my Passover Lamb and His blood has been shed for me.

We are introduced to the concept of Passover in Exodus 12. The blood of the lamb was applied to the doorposts of all the people who believed God’s message. In verse 13 God says, “And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.” God was looking for the blood that day in history. And more so, God is looking for the blood of Jesus for all eternity. What a powerful truth, “Christ is my Passover Lamb.”

Not only did Jesus shed his blood for us, there is tremendous power in applying His blood to your life. Applying the blood of Jesus is believing, claiming, pleading the blood for your life.  So, let’s believe and claim these significant truths about the power of Jesus blood:

The Blood of Jesus cleanses you – But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)

The Blood of Jesus justifies you - Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. (Romans 5:9)

The Blood of Jesus redeems you - In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. (Ephesians 1:7)

The Blood of Jesus bring you near God - But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:13)

The Blood of Jesus frees you - And from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood. (Revelation 1:5)

The greatest gift God ever gave us was the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. His blood was shed for you. Apply it to your life by believing it and claiming it because there is power in the blood of Jesus!
